The Quarry AKA "Kingzett Lake"

I was looking for info on the Kingzett Lake / Quarry, and couldn't find much. So I wrote a summary.
If you have anything to add, please let me know

The Quarry AKA "Kingzett Lake"

  • It is 568 acres of Private land.
  • Visiting it is trespassing.
  • A source of limestone for the BC Cement Company.1953-1980.
  • The lake still contains the hastily-abandoned mining equipment.
  • Park on Thain Rd, and walk 3 mins south to the peak of the quarry
    Then hike down (10 mins).
  • Restoration Plan

The Limestone Blocks were used to build many Victoria Landmarks:

  • Ogden Point Breakwater
  • Empress Hotel
  • B.C. Legislature (Parliament Buildings)
  • More

Why so many Craefish?

There are SO many craefish at the quarry.
My Friend Dylan's hypothesis: that the limestone quarry makes a high PH lake, that is good for making crayfish shells, but bad for fish.
I can't find the PH of the lake listed anywhere.
Any thoughts/insight on that?
