Jobs Displaced long-ago, that nobody cries for:

  • All Elevator Operators Replaced By Automatic Elevators.
  • All Lamp Lighters Replaced By Electricity
  • All Video Stores Replaced By Streaming Services.
  • All Projectionists Replaced By idiot-proof projectors.
  • All Record Stores Replaced By The internet.
  • Most Gas Jockeys Replaced By Pay-At-The-Pump.
  • Most Horse and Buggy Replaced By Cars
  • Most Iron / Wood Workers Replaced By Assembly Lines.
  • Most Travel Agents Replaced By The internet.
  • Many Mechanics Replaced By More reliable cars.
  • Many Movie Ticket-Takers Replaced By Ticket Machines.
  • Many Bank Tellers Replaced By ATM Machines.
  • Many Retail jobs Replaced By The internet.
** "All" indicates at least 95% of jobs are lost from their pre-invention peak. Of course there will always be exceptions.

  • McDonalds Cashiers Replaced By Order Machines.
  • Cashiers Replaced By Self-Checkouts
  • Oil+Coal Workers Replaced By Green Technologies.
  • Most Pizza jobs Replaced By Robots.

Next Industries to go:

Yes, of course there are still SOME people that still do it. But less and less everyday.
