Movie Script
More than a script. It is a production, filming, casting, stunt-safety, filming location, backstories, budget, and promotional plan
2 Scripts:
My Motivation
I have always liked action movies.
So for the last 15 years, I have been preparing a list of the best plots, stunts, crimes, stories and one-liners.
I need someone help to write this collection of notes into a coherent, filmable script.
My Movie Inspirations:
The Best Movies
- Highly-Motivated Characters.
- Come Together. Round up the Gang. (Expendables, Oceans 11, Justice League, Gone in 60 Secs, etc.)
- Well Written Characters, quickly exposition-ed.
- Very Clever strategy and plot twists, never seen in other movies.
- Quotable, well-timed, One-Liners.
- Amazing Deaths and Action sequences.
My Writing Style
I hope to write 95% of the script in point form. Ironing out the ideas as it builds, and only near the end putting into classic script-form.
- Key Points
- Basic Storyline
- Interesting Characters
- Dialogue
SWAT Team vs Bank Robbers
Key Points
- For Simplicity, in this script, I will simply call the groups "COPS" and "ROBBERS".
- Story Centers around 2 key Characters. One Good, one Bad. LEADCOP and LEADROBBER are their placeholder names.
- Story Alternates between each side, alternating between good + bay teams like "Heat[1995]"
- Both Cops and Robbers are quite competent. Their Techniques must be novel and exciting to watch.
- All Ideas must remain in the relm of reality.
7-Part Basic Story:
- IntroLEADROBBER Brilliant Prison Escape. Must be made to look easy, showing his forethought and skill.
Starts Recruiting a Crew. Robbers are in Prison, or at shitty jobs, screaming kids, flipping burgers, stealing from Santa, shit lives.
Cops on desk Duty for Sleeping with Chief's Daughter. Mall Security. Catching Kiddy Pornographers, Children's Birthday Party Clown. - Crime #1First Crime. Robbers get away. Show their skills. Cops realize they have met their match.
- IntroComing Together. How the LEADCOP finds them.
- TrainingTraining / Gun Range.
- Crime #2Lessons learned. Robbery Stopped. Hostages rescued. Robbers Escape though. One of each side is minorly wounded.
- CelebrateCelebrating their first successful mission as a team, at a bar or similar
- Crime #3Final Battle
- PrologueA few Robbers escape, and have to be hunted down in a foreign country. Prologue. Set up Sequel.
Interesting Characters:
It is very important in my movie to introduce a ton of diverse characters, very quickly. Instant, funny, exposition. 4 Key scenes will be:
A character than gets things wrong all the time. Guerrilla style vs Gorilla Style.
Interesting Cops
- Rapid Fire:
- Officer with Severe A.D.D.
- Intro"Why do they call him Rapid fire?"--"You'll See:"
*Said Incredibly fast*:
"Suspect #1 on the roof, AK-47 without stock, 6-foot 3, 240 pounds,
2 female hostages.
Torso and leg body armour. Headshot advised.
Detonator in left hand counting down from 60.
No time to wait for backup. I'm in."
*Gunshots so quick, the bad guy has no idea he's been hit. Hostage seems too confused what happened.
- TrainingLater other officers give him crap for not carrying an automatic gun, he says it would slow him up. Draws his gun, fires at the insane speed of a minigun.
- CelebrateHis Love interest says "Hopefully you can take your time with me"
- Develops a Counter-Drone after Robbers use one in early encounter.
- Considering him meeting up with the Robber's Techy, for a nerdy battle.
- Convertible Chase Scene.
- "Are you Good Partner?"
- Strong Dialogue when shamed by
Interesting Robbers:
We must establish these guys can steal, hold hostage, or
- Tech Guy: (Needs a better name)
- Picture him like "Q" from James Bond.
- Fly Drones
- Remote Controlled Cars pulling tire-spikes and they flee.
- Considering him meeting up with the Robber's Techy, for a nerdy battle.
- Builds Loot Cannon.
- Strong Female Character: (Needs a name)
- Seduces guards, poorly, then just tases them.
Revealing the plan:
- Have a White board where the thieves discuss the plan.
- Some Thieves suggest dumb ideas. When the leader asks where he heard such a stupid idea. He said he learned it from his cellmate. "Ok! No more ideas you got from fuck ups in the can! This is not amatuer hour!
We are not your Regular Crew:
Lead Thief must establish how this is different then any other jobs they've ever done.
- We carry handcuffs + tasers in order to detain police, or heros.
- We consider every possibility, we plan every move, cover every base.
- "Project Birdman" We have loyalty above all. You get pinched, you keep your mouth shut. We get you within 48 hours, that's a promise, or you can sing to your hearts content.
Rules Chalkboard:
These Rules will be drilled into the team. Have a White board where the thieves discuss the plan
- Know the Area.
- Know your Role.
- No Guns.
- No Names (Why they were each handed a tie).
- Masks + Disguises.
- Dispose of Evidence.
- Counter Intelligence / Misdirection.
- Surrender-- We will get you out.
- Escape Plan.
- Commitment Line.
- Change your M.O. .
- Stash the Loot.
- Guardian Angel.
- "Project Anarchy" "Broken Arrow". Apocalypse Scenario
Guardian Angel:
Shit always goes wrong. Clever thieves plan for this. If one of the team is about to get caught. Pull a Pin, and wait for rescue.
- Trap a Cougar, then Release when cops show up.
- Kidnap Lead Cops Daughter, hold her hostage.
- Smoke Grenade
- Fake SWAT Team (explain they are covert, keep to themselves, and don't integrate with regular police force). Buy Gear online.
Project Anarchy:
Climax: In the event their hopes look grim, the gloves come off, and anything goes:
- Fire Tear Gas to barricaded cops.
- Release Hidden Bombs (Magnets) all over the city with firecrackers, to cause panic.
Project Birdman:
In the event someone on the team is captured, they lose their cut. But the team has 48 hours to rescue them, otherwise, they can squeal. Here is how to break them from police custody:
- During transport on Foot. Distract the guards, then Reverse-batman them. Hang a cable from the roof. They clip a hook to their handcuffs, and you drop a weight off the other side of the building, firing them into the air.
- During transport in Car. Get guards to exit the car (car accident, gas grenade, etc.), they will lock the doors(with their prisoner in back). Tech guy already put a hookup into the lock that will open the doors.
- Think of a symbol that can be used to tip off the prisoner that the escape is on.
- Fake Grenade.
- Chloroform Bomb.
- In Prison? Tech Guy builds a replica of a Barbed Wire Cutting Wheel called a "Panjandrum".
Scenes to include Somehow:
- Film some scenes from Body-cam?
- When Cops have situations handled. Call Code 4. Signal 4-fingers to the helicopter.
- SWAT Team repelling. Bad Guy unnoticed at top. Cuts Lines. Cops start dropping until they figure out why.
- One Robber gets arrested. Must find a clever way of getting him out of custody.
- Practicing Picking Cop Handcuffs.
- Practicing the Bank Robbery in a Tennis Court. Like in "The Founder". Include blind spots in Cameras. Blindfold Them, and ask where the exits are.
- Find a special way the group does a drink, which movie's-fans will copy.
One-Liners:
- During main battle scene. While passing over dead guys, one character says to the other "Have you never played a video game? Pick up their damn ammo!".
Notes:
- Police Codes: 211: Armed Robbery in Progress
- Police Codes: Situation under control:
Novel Methods of robbing banks:
We Must establish that these are professional thieves, who (try to) think of everything.
- Underground pipes to escape bank robbery
- Sneak in before the robber with the cleaning crew, and accidentally bump all the cameras away from the areas you intend to go.
- Drones to scout locations
- Disprove of the Booty: Rats Eat the diamonds. Cannon fires the loot to a safe location. Drone flies away.
- One Unique-Looking Robber, will cover up his gait with a tack in his shoe. Causing a Limp.
- All robbers dress the same. Memorable Clothes, With logos, in order to preoccupy the witnesses.
- Disable Silent Alarm by cutting phone lines.
- Disable Wireless Alarms with Signal Jammer Left Behind.
- Smoke Grenades Dissipate too Slowly. How can we make them fill a room instantly?
- Have one Thief discuss as a crazy person cause a disturbance, security guard takes him outside, Thief sobers up, and handcuffes the guard to a shopping cart.
- Instant Zip Line: Tow a cable behind a car, from the roof of the bank down the street. thieves zip down to van.
- Individually bag the money bundles in separate packages, to prevent dye packets. Diaper Genie?
- Bank has auto-locking doors, so we keep them from closing
- Hostage Money being driven by drone. Have Hostage sort through the movie to make sure it isn't tracked.
- Find Matching Car, Copy Plate. Put it on Get away Car.
- Place Loot in Lead-Lined Drum of Water to stop the dye back from wrecking it.
- Place Bag of money in place to make sure there is no tracking device.
- Collect Shells at the firing range, and leave them at the crime scene.
- Use Burner phones when you think you may be surveilled.
- Distraction: Fake Mass Shooter: Firework machine gun, with dummy-shooter, and fake corpses on the ground.
- Have public a place to dump a police tail at.
- Crazy Glue Fingerprints
- Diversionary / Fake / Semi Fake / Bombs all over the city. To use as Distraction
- Put tracking devices on all the cops phones / cars.
- Check loot for Trackers in a public place with multiple floors.
How amazing would the promotion of the film be, if the FBI / RCMP told us not to release these bank orbbery counter measure secrets?
Novel Methods for Cops:
The Cops will have to remain one step behind throughout the movie, in order to advance the plot.
- They realize the robbers rules, mentioning only fake violence. And that all Weapons will be fake.
- They must get ALL the robbers at once. They won't go after just one, as it would spook the others.
- They realize the robbers take their time, and get every penny from a heist, "These guys aren't smash and grabbers... (see below list)..They are a seventh type. Master Escapers. They take their time, and escape while we have our pants down.
Mayor Subplot:
Optional subplot
- Mayor Breathing down the cops neck to catch the thieves.
- Thieves put fake plate on their car, AND on the mayor's car, just to know if they are being looked for.
- Mayor gets pulled over (with gusto) when his plate matches, and is PISSED
- Thieves See on the news that the mayor was arrested, and know they need to change their plates.
Back Story:
Try to incorporate stories like this into certain characters to create backstory.
Six Types of Bank Robber:
- Smash and Grabbers.
- Stealthy Fucks.
- Lucky Louies.
- Inside Jobers.
- Shoot 'em Uppers
- Technocrats.
Get Away Plan:
- Instant Disguise change(as in video below)
- On Foot, Escape into harbour into diving bell.
- On Foot, Escape down alleyway with trip lines carefully placed at different heights. Down Up, Down Up, A, Right Down (Contra Code).
- Tech Guy hacks new bridge to cause it to rise while cops are chasing.
- In Car, Pulling up Metal Plates on roads to block cops once you pass
- Go to a crowded place with many exits, but then exit through a Non-public entrance.
- Map out and Use the many Tunnels under the city. Break in the day before with fake locks. Name them "Tom, Dick and Harry". Dumb Thief: "3rd Rock from the Sun?". Retort: "No, World war 2 POW camps"
- Dive into an open sewer to get away. No cop is paid enough.
- Hire homeless people to push carts in the way of the chasing cop cars.
- Run into a biker bar. Most bikers have warrants, so when the cops chase you in there, the bikers all scatter + fight back.
My Production Plan:
- How to do it cheap.
- Shoot the movie Style. As a "Student film".
- All script helpers must sign releases. They won't be given credit unless 100 hours is put into the project.
- All actors+extras sign releases
- Once we have a rough, quick and dirty version of the whole movie, THEN we solicit funding from investors.
- Make a list of Actors, Extras, Makeup, etc..
- Make a list of Free Locations
- Make a list of Free Equipment (Lights + Camera)
- Prepare to do ADR (Automatic Dialog Replacement) in many scenes.
- Editing. Me + Jamie
- Interesting Props do I have access to?.
- Special Events. with crowds, gun shows. Cop reunion.
- Hide Microphones behind props.
- Get Permits if using Weapons Outside.
- Errors & omissions Insurance
Filming Locations:
- Thieves' Lair
- Tennis Court Scene
- NightClub Robbery
- Bank:
- Police Station:
Thieves Lair Scene:
- Show all identical cars. Show they all have the same license plate. With other plates in the trunk.
- As thieves enter, they are checked for wires / weapons / phones. And dip their fingertips in glue.
- They then are presented a book of mugshots, and find someone that looks like them. Then take the page to a tattoo artist who paints identical tattoos on them, and covers any they already have.
- They then given a tie of random color, and put it on.
Promotion / Marketing:
- Try to get the movie banned for giving away too many closely-held bank robbery secrets.
- How amazing would the promotion of the film be, if the FBI / RCMP told us not to release these bank robbery counter measure secrets?
- "The Film the FBI Bank Robbery Task force tried to ban for 2 years".
- When Interviewed about the film, mention that the RCMP forced them to add 3 scenes that weren't practical in real life in order to foil copy-cats--Fans will try to figure out which ones.
- Have a Mythbuster test out all the stunts + technology, and state they are all practical.
- Epilogue: If you can think of a novel idea on how to rob a bank, submit your ideas, and get to star(possible-parody the A-TEAM intro).
- Trailer: Stress it is an original Film
Stunts I can do cheap+easily:
- Slide Down Stairs while Shooting
- Convertible Stunt
- Head Butt
- Break Away Glass. How?
- Tangled repelling, cut rope, fire shot
- Sleeve Gun
- Most stunts can be done in Mask / Gear to allow to easier swapping of stunt doubled, and protective padding.
Asking for help (Facebook Post):
Do you like Movies such as: Die Hard, Gone in 60 Seconds, Heat, Taken?
Adam Withers has written an edgy crime drama, and is looking for help!
Would you like a role as an elite SWAT Team? Or skilled Bank Robber?
s
Many Roles available: 8 main Male, 2 main female, 2 auxiliary female, 1 Aux. Male, 1 child.
Would require 2 to 4 day commitment. Filming not intended to begin until July 2018.
Currently finalizing script. If you have experience / interest in assisting, please contact us.
This is officially a "Student Film". You will be fed, and credited for your roles. But will not be paid.
What NOT to do:
- Show a wide shot of the action scene area
- No Shaky-cam
- Not too-many Company Logos
- Smooth Exposition.
- No Clichés
Need ideas:
- You stab me with something large, but miss my important bits. I laugh, and grab you, hug you, stabbing you in the right spot.
- Grab the bad guy and tackle him off a roof, use his body to take the impact.
- Drop Bricks on someone's head.
- Copy the take down from "Tango and Cash" Chair Interrogation "I saw this in a movie once, always wanted to do it. You're too young to have seen it."
- Reverse Stockholm syndrome
- Crossbow Scene
- How to reveal all their gear in an impressive way.
- Thieves all sit around, discussing how they got busted. And writing Rules, and thinking of ideas.
- Cops aren't the only ones that use informants.
- Prison Escape Scene
- Escape in a stolen ambulance, cops pull it over, there is a victim shot in the head, missing an eye being worked on.
- Pivotal meeting of LEADCOP and LEAD ROBBER.
- To deliver diamonds to the fence. We bury them in the woods. Give them the coordinates. Give them a taste, get money. Drop off more money, get more coordinates.
- Thieves need a super quiet gun. "This is Canada, you smuggle it in your anus across the border, or build it. Queue Tech Guy
- Attempted execution in Cardboard Compactor
- Bean Bag Rounds
- Shooting of prominent official. But like Leon, it is a paintball.
- What weaknesses should the characters have? Dogs, etc.
- Dylan, could you build a grenade launcher that shoots GLUE? If a cop gets hit. later show him COMPLETELY bald from removing the glue.
- Setup a Pokemon-Go Gym at the Bank, giving away someone neat. Swamped with nerds. Robbers dress as Nerds.
- Hidden Closet. Maybe the Pool table where you put the balls in in a certain order, it reveals....
- Once we get famous, release a video online, promising anyone at 1pm and [the banks location] will get free money. Distribute fake bills.
- Smoke Grenades.
- Dylan, "Penetrating Armour is all about Joules. A 50-caliber sniper rifle only has 15kJ. A small cannon would do, but that'll wake the neighbours. For 50,000Joules we need, you'll need an airgun."
- Dylan, Theorizes a flaw in the armoured truck gun ports. On a whim orders onOnline. Easily proves they can be instantly popped open with a reverse-magnet, and sledgehammer
- Dylan, could you vacuum-out the blood out of a piece of raw pork, and then inject Human Blod into it? Goal is to create a fake body, that would pass initial once over.
- "They are going to shoot out our tires"--"Not if we hang chain over the tires" -- "You don't need to stop a bullet, just deflect it".
- Since guns have to be non-lethal, and cops wear body-armour. Can you simply fire SO much bean bags at them, that it would overwhelm them?
- How can you disable a police dog? Loud Noises? Back Smells? High pitched noise?
- What should the Final heist be?
- Set up drones to monitor how much money is in a bank at any given time.
- What Time of year should it be? Xmas?
- Tech Guy invents a grenade that lubricates the thief, allowing him to literally slip away.
- How to write a Sexual tension. Inspiration:
- "Having Sex and Stealing Cars"- Gone in 60 Seconds.
- "Relations based on intense experience don't work--Well have to base it on sex then"- Speed.
- Sex Scene all Jump-cut-ty like "Shawn of the Dead" or RockNRolla.
- How to write a Comic Relief. Inspiration:
- ????
- Soundtrack? ACDC, Remakes of classic songs.
- Make sure no one has the finger on the trigger of their weapon unless firing.
Cool Weird Weapons:
Some of my favorite movies introduce us to crazy unheard of weapons. Try adding this to the plot:
- Automatic Handgun Beretta M93R (Broken Arrow [1996])
- Dragon's Breath Shotgun
- APS underwater rifle
- Super Quiet Gun #1
Montage:
Some of my favorite movies include Montages, that speed the story along quickly:
- We need to establish that the robbers are super clever, and just keep escaping the police each time.
- A Montage of them holding up: Casinos, Nightclubs
- Maybe like "The Watchmen" Intro?
Rough Ideas:
- Future-Cop is pulled over for speeding, mentions he is going to the range to fire "THAT". Points to massive gun. Cop says "Follow me and lean on the horn, we're going to be running some reds". Then became a cop
- Cop shoots INTO hostage taker's gun to block barrel Real Story
- Nerdy Tech Guys Invents Rail Gun to fire through armour.
- Robbers wear Clever masks. Presidents?
- Goal of the Intro to make each character look badass, and interesting quickly. Example A-TEAM.
- Shutdown Communications: "This isn't as simple as the 1980s when you chainsawed a phone line.
- They steal Money Printing Plates in the first act, and the printing in the second act.
- Driving the babysitter home. And I couldn't help but think "Some of my favorite Pornos start just like this"!!!!!!!
- "Pop Quiz Hotshot"--Shoot the Hostage
- Rushing to Scene jumping the car
- At the end. When they know then can't go to Non-extradition Country to get LEADBAD, and avenge their dead partners,
they all shave their mustaches, as a sign they are no longer cops. - Comic Relief
- In the case that the Tech Guy can't figure something out. They go to his Sensai/Gunny. Later reveal it is his dad.
- "So normally you target rich people with prominent family members. I admire that. Kidnap, Ransom, Repeat. Retire. But today you kidnapped the daughter of a very powerful man. Normally, you are a very powerful cartel. But today this man no longer has anything to lose, and infinite skills, resources, and motivation. I tell you now, if you want to live, you drop her off at a nearest post office, and cut your losses. If not, you prepare for him to attack, and for all your men to die. And yourself to our own personally-prescribed torture, from a man with nothing to lose."
Phone Joke:
- Thief buys Burner-phone, makes a important calls Cops are tracking him, and puts a low-level cop who fucked up earlier in the movie the task of following him. Eventually a fellow thief says "you know the cops are tracking your phone now, idiot" No Problem, he slides it into a tour bus. Problem Solved. At the end of the movie, just as the heist is going well. The low-level cop follows the bus by chance to the scene and reports it "Chief, You'll never believe what just happened"
Questions:
- I'm assuming this should not be, and won't work as a buddy-cop movie?
- Who would want to sponsor this?
- Hot to Build Tension.
Free shooting locations:
- Local Restaurant / Bar
- Training Area
- Office Building "Police Station"
- Cars (Adam's Eclipse)
Alternate Movie Scripts:
- Guy on Hijacked plane. Kills hostage-Takers. Lands Plane, Becomes Hero, Stars in Movie.
