Hedge Problems
I have had to explain this to WAY too many people, so here is the breakdown of my Cedar Hedge NightmareUpdated 6 years ago
My Nightmare:
I have replaced parts of my hedge 10 times in the last 7 years. 3 to 7 trees at a time. Nothing works!
- I personally laid the top-quality top soil in 2012 to a depth of 3 feet along the edges of the concrete walls
- I have had all the soil Tested, for PH, Phosphorous, Nitrogen, Sand content, etc.
- The front row of trees (with two exceptions) required no maintenance, or water after the first month
- The soil is light and fluffy, and easy to dig.
- I have tried Buying Trees from Walmart, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, and Rona
- I have tried Buying from two different Nurseries
- I have tried Buying Smaller Sized Trees, from 4ft to 18"
- I have tried having a professional gardener plant the last the last 2 batches.
- I watered the shit out them, and zero water, and medium amounts of water.
- I take them back, over and over again when they die, but the warranty at best is 6 months
- Some trees survive 1, 3, 6, or 12 months, or never die.
- It all seems Random. HELP!!!.
- I have lost all hope of growing a hedge, so please make any suggestions detailed, specific, and well flushed out.
Replacement Criteria:
- Must be Hardy and Durable as HELL!
- I don't want it to have to be watered (other than initially)
- I don't want to have to maintain it more than once/ year
- It has to compete with ivy and rambles that I now have to (painfully) evicted 3 times /year.
- I am sort of looking for your personally guarantee it will survive at least 3 years.
Replacement Ideas:
- Heathers(Maggie)
- Hellebore (Amanda Owens)
- Mint (Surf Racecar)
- Astilbe (Ashley Beggmann)
