Disaster Unlikely-hood:
Kidnapping Unlikely-hood:
I hate the impression these videos give. Nobody is going to abduct a kid, and if they are, it wont be a stranger.- Only 1 of 10,000 missing children reported to the local police is NOT found safely.
- 63% of missing children/youth reports were found within 24 hours -- 86% within a week
- Only 24% were "stranger kidnappings"
- In almost every missing child case, children reported missing were not abducted -- they had either attempted to run away from home or had become lost.
- From 2003 and 2012, Canada issued 64 Amber Alerts involving 73 abducted children. Of those, onyl 3 were not recovered and returned safely.
- From 1987 to 2014, the number of children reported missing per year in Canada has declined by more than 15,000 (or 42%).
- Only 25 children out of 46,718 reported missing in 2011 listed were "abducted by stranger."(25 / 4,945,060 Canadian kids).

Protect your kids, Teach them about "Stranger Danger", save fingerprints, etc. but if you want to worry about something, focus on things [literally] 50,000 times more likely to hurt them.
