Never Complained:

  • About the mosquitoes, the screaming kids, the messy dogs, the laundry,
  • Climbing the seven stories in China cuz she didn't have an elevator

Heart Full of Kindness:

  • Always encouraging us to be Silly.
  • Nursing us back to help after surgeries and sicknesses.
  • As a Very awkward teenager, Telling me not to be embarassed by my acne, and that the girls just spend hours each day pretending they don't have it.

Forever a Teacher and counsellor:

  • "I hope you're safe and having fun"
  • Barb was always there.

Stories so Far:

  • Always being so nice to bosco
  • Made Christmases Extra Special. I was always jealous of all mikes presents
  • One Xmas, She bought Mike a Sega Dreamcast, and even took the time to play it with us for a few minutes, because it "looked fun, but was darn expensive!".
  • She was never above making a silly face to make us smile.
Some women wouldn't want to have their picture taken making a funny face, but Barb sure did!
  • After dinner walks and Shuswap, always being careful for Bears
  • She unsuccessfully tried to pass her Green thumb off to me. But it never worked but she would try and try again to get my front garden on my house to grow.
  • When working in the compassionate warehouse, when when another country had a natural disaster. And requested something like 10 wheelchairs. Barb would scramble to fulfill the order. But then when those wheelchairs were loaded into their cargo container, she would efficiently fill every square inch of tiny space with other donatable items for anyone in need. Baseballs. School supplies. Crutches. Anything that they would need.
  • Insisting I try a taste of wine at a very early age, which I always refused. Even after Des confirmed with me it was still legal
  • Picking Mike, Daralana and I up from the other side of Shuswap lake when we rode too far, too late, and called from a Payphone.
  • Telling Mike and I to "Stop Giggling and Go to Bed!"
  • Sending Mom and I to Cuba with 2 MASSIVE suitcases full of school supplies etc for Church People
  • Patient. Closing the door every 2 minutes would screaming kids would leave it open allowing mosquitoes in
  • Having me come over to do chores when Des was away, out of town, so that she could pretend she fixed the light / the computer.
  • Planting My Garden, after every set of my tenants neglected it. "THIS time, THESE plants will Live.
  • Bottle Drives for too many charities to count!
  • Helping her "get on the facebook" so she can look at what mike is up to
  • Checking on my Friend Matt+I when we were in the garage. Rebuilding her Chryler Interprid. WHich ran out of oil, for about 3 months.
Hourly check ins to say "I hear a lot of clanging, and I don't hear screaming, so I assume everything is going well".
And "I hope you're being safe, and having fun"
  • She Brought us together. Around the Dinner table, with her smile, charity, laughter, and love.
